Melisa Kavanagh

Melisa’s Yoga journey began in childhood as her mother was an Iyengar-inspired yoga teacher. She took the initial step into teacher-hood in 2002 by attending a 500hr YTT at The Yoga Haven in Calgary. This initial training inspired her to dive deeper into embodiment practices so she went on to become trained and certified in mat Pilates in 2002. Melisa’s education kept evolving as she studied Yoga Nidra with Anne Douglas in 2003 and Gentle Yoga with Mukunda Stiles in 2005. Throughout her studies she was introduced to the styles of Iyengar Yoga, Anusara Yoga, and Ashtanga Yoga. Her teachings are now a blend of these and other styles of Yoga.

Melisa offers out of Vitality in Nelson, BC where she teaches 8 classes per week ranging from flow style to gentle restorative. She loves improving on her foundation in functional movement and has a passion for teaching mobility and strength. She am constantly learning new ways of moving in Asana which keeps her and her students inspired in this profound practice.
